Report & Result 2008
Wintergo 2008 was a huge success. Over 100 people total visited the event, with 77 of them playing at least one round in the main tournament. The tournament was won by Matthias Terwey (4d) from Münich, Germany. Matthias won 4 out of 5 games, losing only to 2nd place finisher Herman Hiddema (3d), who won 3 out of 3 games. Willem Mallon (4d) was 3rd with a score of 3 wins out of 4 games.
The many workshops were popular, en were busily attended. Especially fun to watch were the many children at the workshops of Manja Marz (4d from Leipzig, Germany), who were able to understand what was going on despite the language barrier. The simultaneous match against Michiel Eijkhout (6d), was also a success, and a majority of the participants managed to win against Michiel, winning a small price.
Despite the fact that the kitchen crew generally had to cook for about 80 people, the meals were excellent and the cooks received plenty of praise from the visitors.
